Stop the presses! Someone just had an affair.

We've become so fascinated with celebrity infidelity that the entire news cycle now revolves around extramarital escapades. I thought it didn't matter to me. I didn't think it was any of my business. Apparently I was in the minority because according to the media, it's "breaking news" whenever someone goes off confessing to transgressing. Hold that story on the war. Strike that economic data. Dele the piece on health-care legislation. What unemployment? Call TMZ because we've got a scandal to report!

It occurred to me however that all the public attention placed on these seemingly private matters is well deserved. Why? Because we need the distractions from everything else and the self assurances these stories provide given our own relationship issues. It's much more pleasant to digest the woes of Tiger Woods or David Letterman than it is to contemplate the severity of other topics. I'll take a scorned woman yelling "infidelity" any day over a radical terrorist screaming "infidel". Yes, I'm on board now so let me in on all the dirt. Now where did I put that National Inquirer?

I'm Back

Okay so, I barely got started and took a break. Sue me. I've been busy, or had problems, er uh issues. Yeah that's it, I've had issues. Anyway, there are so many things to say that I couldn't possibly wait any longer to get something posted. While I was away the idiots have stepped up their efforts. They've been real busy! So much so that I can't even hope to keep pace and I'm now resigned to summarizing more than I would wish. I promise I'll attempt to keep it interesting however and will add whatever little bit of sarcastic rationalism there may be to this increasingly insane world.
